Who is
King Kogi?

Who is Martina Sazunic

👩🏻‍🦳 Welcome! I’m Martina, creator of the King Kogi YouTube community.

Born in Toronto, Canada, but in my 20s I moved to Asia in 2008 and lived in South Korea and Japan.

I’m passionate about sharing my love for Korean and Japanese food culture, off-the-beaten-path destinations, and giving practical travel tips, especially for my fellow chronically ill folks.

What I Make:

  • YouTube Videos: You can find travel adventures, recipes, music, and cozy lifestyle content that celebrate small joys and positive creativity. I especially love food culture storytelling, and demystifying Korean and Japanese food products.

  • Digital Travel Guides: these modern travel guides focus on Japan and Canada and can be purchased in the King Kogi store. The guides have interactive maps and include my local food recommendations, niche neighbourhood maps, and insider tips. All Japan Guides come with our Digital Travel Magazine filled with over 40 pages of tips and links for a smooth trip to Japan!

  • Design and Clothing: I’ve always had a passion for doodling and drawing. Being able to design my own tshirts, sweatshirts, hats, hoodies, backpacks and more has been a dream come true. I advocate for inclusive sizing and cute designs.

  • Content with Chronic illness Advocacy: Living with (hEDS) Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, I try to advocate travel reality for differently abled and chronically ill travellers.
Videos often include mentions of elevators and accessibility to share the reality of travel.

  • “Build A Ladder” is my personal mantra that I’ve shared, and I try to support people navigating the difficulties of invisible illnesses by focusing on the small daily wins. Each win is a new rung on your ladder of wins, and that ladder can help you climb out of a pit of depression or pain.

Who is King Kogi

👑🐷 King Kogi is my faithful stuffed toy travel pig, named Kogi. I bought him in 2008 while living in Bucheon, Korea.

He has been a literal table for my iPad to rest on while I traveled and doodled, so I guess you could say, many of my designs came off the back of his soft, squishy support.

The King Kogi Airship

The Airship

A fictional concept I created to describe traveling through life.

There are no motors, the Airship simply goes with the flow. King Kogi and Captain Martina float through unusual galaxies around the world, facing challenges but also seeing wonderful things.

The online YouTube community joins us on this voyage as passengers, crewmates, and explorers.
